Job Shadows at Providence
The requirements and application processes for job shadowing can differ between Providence ministries and regions. To learn more about the job shadowing programs available at your local facility, click on the link below. If your local Providence site isn’t listed, reach out to the ministry directly.
Oregon:
Individuals interested in job shadowing in Oregon should attend a Career Highlight to gain hands-on experience exploring different health care careers with Providence caregivers.
In some cases, career seekers can reach out directly to the caregiver or location they’d like to work with. Approval is at the discretion of the caregiver, department, or manager. Providence ministries do not offer nursing job shadow experiences, as our resources are allocated to nursing students in affiliated schools.
Job shadow participants must be 16 years or older and are limited to observation only, with no direct patient contact. Each job shadow must be under eight hours, occur within one day, and is limited to once per year per individual. Department managers or designees will define the scope, assign supervisors, and determine the duration and location of the experience. Western Washington:
Swedish, which includes all our Providence Puget Sound hospitals, does not currently offer shadowing opportunities for community members or students. Providence Swedish encourages those interested in a job shadow to participate in our career exploration or pathway opportunities.
